The year round island
Cyprus is a truly enjoyable holiday island that boasts a myriad of charms all year round.
It is fast becoming one of Europe’s favourite holiday destinations. It boasts 340 days of
sunshine, friendly English speaking Cypriots, excellent food and wine and 10,000 years of history.
Cyprus has one of the lowest crime rates in Europe and you drive on the left hand side of the road.
Cyprus
is a modern country that effortlessly marries European culture with indelible links to the past.
The rich story of the island can be traced back over 10,000 years. Like many Mediterranean islands, Cyprus has
long been seen as an important strategic base with various civilisations having swept through over the years
from the Greeks to the Romans, the Ottoman Turks to the British.
As
a destination Cyprus is not just about its very attractive and impressively clean beaches, it also offers,
hiking and cycling in the hills, skiing in the mountains, golf and fishing around the coast, water-parks and
every water-sport you would expect. It has charming old stone hilltop villages and vine-blessed slopes,
olive trees, citrus groves with nearby towns and villages where you can sample the seriously underrated Cypriot wine
Then there is the sweep of Roman and Greek remnants that scatter the island and sit dramatically amongst its coast and mountains.
The
towns and cities have the Mediterranean flavour to go with the excellent food and wines and buzzing nightlife.
Explore the heritage of Aphrodite or The Tombs of the Kings, try the town of Paphos with its historic harbour, bars
and restaurants. Alternatively, savour the excellent food and wines in the quieter tavernas of nearby Kouklia
and Pissouri.
